The revelation stunned Megan, who had only days earlier taken a pregnancy test that returned negative. Before she could even come to terms with the news, she was transferred to Burnley Hospital. However, before reaching the facility, she delivered her baby boy in the ambulance. The child, later named Jaxson, weighed 4.6 lbs when he was born on September 9, turning what began as a terrifying medical emergency into a miraculous delivery.

Reflecting on the shocking experience, Isherwood shared: “I was speechless — I couldn’t believe what had just happened. I had no bump, no symptoms at all, he just came out of nowhere. I wouldn’t change anything for it other than I wish Jaxson had let me know that he was around before he was born. He is a miracle.”

From illness scare to miraculous birth

The unforgettable day began when Megan woke up around 4 p.m. feeling extremely unwell. Thinking it was a blood sugar drop, she asked her friend, 26-year-old Gabbie Rose, to bring her a bottle of Coke. However, when Gabbie arrived, she immediately noticed Megan looked unwell, hunched over in pain. Knowing her friend’s high pain tolerance, she urged her to seek medical attention immediately.

Isherwood said …

“When Gabbie arrived, she told me I looked terrible as I was hunched over and that I needed to go to the hospital. I have a high pain threshold, so she knew I had something wrong with me,” Megan recounted. Gabbie called 111, and within the hour, an ambulance rushed Megan to Blackburn Hospital. On arrival, doctors suspected appendicitis due to her symptoms of sharp right-side pain, vomiting, and high heart rate. But things quickly took a dramatic turn when Megan started bleeding heavily, soaking the hospital bed.

Medical staff moved swiftly, assembling over 15 doctors to investigate. After conducting both ultrasound and CT scans, they discovered not appendicitis, but a baby. “They decided to do a CT scan as well as an ultrasound to rule out pregnancy, but that was when they found a head and a foot. They then blue-lighted me to Burnley hospital as they have midwifery. On the way there, the paramedic told me if I need to push, just let them know and push hard. As soon as she said that, it was like something clicked and I just needed to push. The next thing you know they told me ‘congratulations it is a boy.’ I was so shocked and flustered, I couldn’t believe what had just happened.”

Jaxson’s fight for life

Baby Jaxson was born at 33 weeks, arriving prematurely and immediately faced complications. Only minutes after his birth, he turned blue and stopped breathing. Thankfully, paramedics managed to resuscitate him before they reached Burnley Hospital. He was admitted straight to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), while Megan was taken to the birth suite and later placed in a private postnatal room.

Doctors revealed that both mother and child were battling severe infections and diagnosed them with sepsis. They were placed on antibiotics and monitored closely. Jaxson, though tiny, proved to be a fighter. Just a few days later, he stopped breathing again but was revived by medical staff, reinforcing the miraculous nature of his survival.

Today, both Megan and her son are recovering well, with doctors hailing the delivery as one of the most extraordinary cases they’ve ever encountered. Megan’s story has since gone viral online, with many celebrating the resilience of both mother and baby and calling Jaxson a true miracle child.
