A pregnant corps member has captured widespread attention after sharing her extraordinary journey of collecting her NYSC certificate while already in labour, all on the same day as her Passing Out Parade (POP).
The inspiring young woman documented her unbelievable experience in a TikTok video posted by @stephychizzy, where she revealed that her contractions had started a day before the big ceremony. Despite being admitted to the hospital and already 4cm dilated, her determination to complete her NYSC programme and not miss out on collecting her certificate gave her the strength to keep going.
She explained in the video how her brother, with a mix of courage and secrecy, helped sneak her out of the hospital so she could attend the event. “Already 4cm dilated but I had to go get my certificate ooo. I got back from the hospital and the nurses were already looking for me, asking my husband where I went to,” she narrated, highlighting how her husband and sister stood by her side throughout the challenging yet memorable day.
Double blessings in one day
After managing to successfully attend the POP ceremony and collect her certificate, she immediately returned to the hospital, where she welcomed a bouncing baby boy. Her mother, visibly emotional and overjoyed, was captured in the video celebrating the rare double blessing of her daughter’s service completion and safe delivery of her grandchild.
