Man shares his encounter with Uma Ukpai

Taking to his Facebook page, Usen recounted his first life-changing meeting with Rev. Ukpai in 1992, describing the experience as the turning point that marked the beginning of his intentional spiritual journey with God. According to him, Rev. Ukpai’s mentorship and prayers played a vital role in shaping his faith and his family’s destiny.

His words …

“The Altar Call I answered many many years ago was made by Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai. It was at the embryo of his Wednesdays Fellowship in his residence at Ewet Housing Estate, Uyo. That was in 1992, the genesis of my intentional walk with God. I’m so happy today because it was also the initiation of my eternal covenant with God which can never be broken.”

Usen reflected on how the preacher’s influence extended beyond spiritual matters, touching various aspects of his personal and family life, and how his encounters with the evangelist left him transformed forever.

Man recalls warning Uma Ukpai gave before his death

Continuing his heartfelt tribute, Usen narrated one of the most memorable moments he shared with Rev. Ukpai and the significant warning the preacher gave him regarding his family. He recalled a Christmas Eve in 1999 when he drove from Lagos to Asaga with his entire family to spend time with Rev. Ukpai and his loved ones. During that visit, Rev. Ukpai offered both blessings and a caution that would later prove prophetic.

“I remember driving all the way from Lagos to Asaga, on Christmas Eve 1999, with my entire nuclear family, just to share some precious moments with you and your family. It was also partly for me to show off my new Pajero Mitsubishi jeep and testify how God, through your prayers, had turned my mourning into dancing. As a lover of good cars yourself, your joy for me overflowed with more prayers for better years ahead. And it came to pass.”

He continued, “I remember also that my son, Bobby Usen, was born on your birthday. Maybe that was not a coincidence, but a God(incident), as you had prayed more than anyone else for my next child to be a boy. When God answered that prayer, you celebrated so much with us and warned me not to pamper the boy, being the only boy among three girls. And I obeyed.”

Expressing deep gratitude, Usen added, “My family and I are very grateful to you and will remain very, very proud of you till eternity. The fact is that you did not only open my eyes to see Jesus, but stood by me until I could stand firm in Him. That’s worth more than money can buy, Daddy.”

Rev. Uma Ukpai’s ministry, which spanned several decades, remains one of the most impactful in Africa, inspiring countless believers with his teachings on faith, miracles, and divine healing. His passing marks the end of an era for many who saw him as a father, teacher, and intercessor who dedicated his life to advancing the kingdom of God.
