A Nigerian lady has taken to social media to share heartfelt memories of the late evangelist, Reverend Dr. Uma Ukpai, providing an intimate glimpse into his life and the traditions he upheld every January during the New Year celebrations.
“A Privilege to Come From His Village”
The lady, identified as Chinyere Uzy, proudly stated that she hails from the same village as the late preacher, describing it as a great honour to be from his hometown. She reflected on the impact of growing up in a community influenced by such a devoted and spiritual leader.

In her own words: “Being privileged to come from the same locality as Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, he organizes an annual crusade in the village every 1st of January, bringing us together to worship God. This tradition has been constant since I was born till now. People come back to the village for New Year celebration just to attend this crusade. It is always a time of joy, reflection, and renewed faith for all of us.”
“Onu’m Juru Na Ekele” — His Favourite Song
Chinyere further recalled that the late evangelist had a favourite song he would always sing during these gatherings — “Onu’m juru na ekele,” which translates to “My mouth is full of praises.” She explained that this song became a defining moment of each crusade and was a true reflection of his heart full of gratitude towards God.
She shared: “He is often heard singing ‘Onu’m juru na ekele’ (My mouth is full of praises) at every gathering. A true worshipper of God. A man that knows how to worship God. A heart of gratitude. Rest in Power, Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai. You will be greatly missed, Daddy.”
