Controversial Nigerian street singer, Portable, has once again captured public attention after he gifted a fan the pair of designer shoes that British rapper Skepta had originally given him during his visit to the United Kingdom.
The gesture, which was captured on video, quickly went viral online as fans marveled at Portable’s generosity and his unpredictable personality.
It will be recalled that in 2023, Portable travelled to the UK, where he linked up with Skepta for the recording of their collaborative hit track, ‘Tony Montana’. During the visit, Skepta hosted the singer, presented him with cash gifts, and also gave him a luxurious pair of red designer shoes as a token of appreciation for their collaboration and friendship.
Skepta was also seen in previous clips showering Portable with bundles of British pounds and expressing admiration for the singer’s raw talent and authenticity. The British rapper described Portable as a “true street artist” who represents the unfiltered energy of Nigerian music.
However, in a recent viral clip making rounds online, Portable was seen speaking to a young fan about his time in the UK and his memorable encounter with Skepta. In a surprising move, the singer decided to give away the exact pair of designer shoes Skepta had gifted him, claiming that the shoes were very special and even had a “code” that only Skepta could unlock.
In his usual humorous tone, Portable told the fan, “I no buy am for America. Na Skepta gift me this shoe. If you wear am, Skepta fit lock am. Na Skepta get the code.” His statement left onlookers laughing as he went on to praise Skepta’s generosity and recounted their studio session for ‘Tony Montana.’
