Human rights activist and lawyer, Barrister Deji Adeyanju, has once again set social media abuzz after throwing subtle shades at popular auto dealer and influencer, Ola of Lagos, following the recent demolition of his car showroom by the Lagos State Government.
The outspoken activist took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to address the controversy surrounding the ownership of the demolished property. According to Deji, contrary to online claims, the car stand in question did not belong to Ola of Lagos but to his close friend, Elvis of SKYWISE Autos. He alleged that confusion erupted after a tenant, who only rented a small office space within the compound, began parading himself as the rightful owner of the entire car showroom.

“The car stand that was demolished in Lagos was for my friend, Elvis of SKYWISE Autos, but one guy who rented a mini office there was claiming ownership,” Deji Adeyanju wrote in his post, seemingly addressing the viral confusion that had spread across social media platforms.
Adeyanju didn’t stop there — he went on to criticize individuals who easily believe everything they see on social media, warning against the dangers of being deceived by online appearances and fake portrayals of wealth. His statement, many believe, was a direct jab at Ola of Lagos, who is widely known for flaunting luxury cars and lavish lifestyles on Instagram.
“If you like, believe online fake life on the gram and let them put you under pressure,” the activist added in a follow-up post, emphasizing the need for discernment and authenticity in an age dominated by social media illusions.
The post quickly gained massive attention and reactions from users across different platforms. While some applauded Deji for speaking the truth and defending his friend, others felt his comment was unnecessary and could further inflame an already tense situation. Many users also expressed disappointment at how misinformation and assumptions can quickly spiral online, especially when tied to high-profile personalities.
This development comes shortly after the Lagos State Government ordered and carried out the demolition of Ola of Lagos’ car showroom, a move that sparked outrage and debate across social media. The reason for the demolition, according to reports, was related to violations of building regulations and property ownership disputes.
Deji Adeyanju’s remarks have reignited discussions about social media culture, authenticity, and the obsession with portraying luxury lifestyles. The incident serves as yet another reminder of how easily misinformation can spread in the digital space, often blurring the line between truth and illusion.
